There are situations in every organization where an experienced employee is appointed to be a team leader, foreman, coordinator, chief. specialist, or in other words a manager. Do we ever stop to think how to train and prepare for these positions?

The chief manager of one large company shared that one of the biggest issues, that the company faces are a high employee turnover. searching for the root cause of the problem, it turned out that employee turnover stems from dissatisfaction with the misconduct and behavior of the first-level managers. According to dissatisfied employees, the first-level managers work in outdated ways, do not have an introductory course to work, and are unable to communicate properly with modern employees.

The head of another organization shared that they developed an excellent strategy at the top management level, however, when it was lowered to the first-level/team managers, the implementation of the strategy stalled. Why? Process and self-improvement skills are constantly being formed and developed, but this has never been on the agenda of the first-level/ team leaders, so the strategy has not been implemented as planned.

If you recognize such or similar problems, you will find this program useful. The program is based on Lean and TWI best practices and its content consists of 4 main parts

Process improvement

The first part is for the employee to get acquainted with the main Lean practices. Practical examples of Lean methods are presented, there is an opportunity to test them in real projects and to form skills.

Team leadership

In the second part, the first-level/ team manager will form skills to work with the team – how to maintain a good relationship with the team, and if problems arise, how to deal properly with them? The training is based on the TWI JR (Job relations) methodology.

Staff training

The third part is based on proper employee introduction to work, by using the TWI JI (Job instruction) methodology. The goal is to learn how to plan training correctly, manage the skills of team members, and properly prepare to conduct training. After completing these sections, the employees will remember what, how, and why they have to do things the way they are done in a few days.

Standardization of first-level manager’s work

The purpose of the fourth part is to develop the agenda and standardize the practices learned in the first 3 paragraphs so that the first-level/team managers could apply them on a daily basis.

„If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.“

John Quincy Adams (1767 – 1848) American politician, diplomat, lawyer
